Every Atrium renter completes this program. It takes about five minutes, and it covers the things that actually keep drivers out of trouble in these cars. You'll acknowledge it at the bottom, and you can come back to it any time from your driver portal.
Lifting off the accelerator slows the car much harder than a gas car does. Give yourself room until it's second nature, and remember your brake lights do come on under strong regen — but the driver behind you may not expect the deceleration.
These cars accelerate faster than almost anything else on the road. That's useful for merging and dangerous on wet or icy pavement. Ease into the accelerator in poor conditions.
You can drive most of the time without touching the brake. Keep your foot ready over the brake anyway — in an emergency stop, regen alone is not enough.
Pedestrians, cyclists, and people in parking lots will not hear you coming. Assume they haven't seen you, especially when backing up or pulling out of a pickup spot.
Conditions in the canyons change fast and are often far worse than in the valley. Check UDOT before you head up, and understand that traction-device restrictions apply to you.
Expect meaningfully less range in the cold. Precondition the car while it's still plugged in, and don't plan a shift around a charge level you'd be comfortable with in July.
Instant torque plus ice is how people spin. Accelerate gently, brake early, and increase your following distance well beyond what feels necessary.
Cold weather drops your pressure, and low pressure is the single most common cause of a roadside call. If the car warns you about pressure, act on it that day — ignoring a warning is treated as neglect under your rental agreement.
These features do not make the car self-driving. They require a fully attentive driver at all times. You remain the operator, and you are responsible and liable for the vehicle whether or not they are engaged.
This is covered in section 25 of your rental agreement.
Atrium's Distracted Driving Policy applies to you and to any approved secondary driver, any time the car is moving.
Read the full policy in our Terms of Service. It is also section 26 of your rental agreement.
Step one, before anything else: DO NOT ADMIT FAULT.
Don't say sorry. Don't explain what you think happened. Don't talk to the other driver's insurance company. Even a polite apology can be used against you later.
Then work through these in order. Doing this correctly protects you as much as it protects us — skipping steps can void your damage waiver.
Never give a statement to another driver's insurance company, settle privately, accept cash, or post about it on social media. Let us handle it — that's what your coverage is for.
Save the accident card to your phone now — before you need it.
Nobody reads a safety program at a crash scene. We built a one-screen card with tap-to-call buttons and this exact checklist, so it's there when you're rattled.
Open the accident card → then add it to your home screen, or print it for the glovebox.
