In Salt Lake City, Hertz and Avis rent cars to Uber drivers through Uber's Vehicle Marketplace for $240 to $329 a week before taxes and fees, with insurance and maintenance in the price, as of October 1, 2026; Hertz's Tesla Model 3 is $290. Atrium rents a Tesla Model 3 for $425 and a 2026 Model Y for $599 a week plus tax, without insurance, for drivers who want a Tesla under an agreement that permits both Uber and Lyft, with no trip requirement.

How Much Does Hertz Charge Uber Drivers in Salt Lake City?

$272 to $320 a week before taxes and fees, across five Hertz offers on Uber's Salt Lake City marketplace, which also lists three from Avis. Hertz takes a $200 security deposit at pickup with the first week's charges and returns it at the end if nothing else is owed. Avis takes no deposit.

Does Hertz Still Rent Teslas to Uber Drivers?

Yes, including in Salt Lake City. Hertz announced in January 2024 that it would sell part of its EV fleet and raised the plan to about 30,000 cars that April, but its Uber page still advertises Teslas. The Salt Lake listing is a 2021 or 2022 Model 3 Standard Plus with rear-wheel drive at $290 a week; a Long Range is listed at $376, though not every branch has both. A $280 rate applies after seven straight weeks if you average 30 or more Uber trips a week and meet Hertz's other conditions, including weekly mileage conditions.

What Are Hertz's and Avis's Rules for Uber Drivers?

Hertz requires 30 Uber trips in each rental week. Miss that and the rental is not extended, so the car goes back on day seven. The car cannot be used to earn on any other platform, and each agreement covers one rideshare program. Rentals start at seven days and extend weekly for up to 180.

Avis takes no deposit, requires renters to be 25, renews automatically for up to eight weeks, and sets trip and rating minimums on two of its three listings (see the table above). Uber itself requires new drivers in Utah to be at least 25.

Where Are the Hertz Uber Rental Locations in Utah?

Can You Drive for Lyft in a Hertz or Atrium Rental?

Not in a Hertz car rented through Uber; its listings bar other platforms. Lyft has its own Hertz program, Lyft Express Drive.

Final approval and ride-tier eligibility are decided by the platform and your driver account.

How Is Atrium Different From Hertz and Avis?

Atrium costs more per week, and insurance is yours to carry; Hertz and Avis put it in the price. In return you get a 2018–2023 Model 3 Long Range with all-wheel drive or a 2026 Model Y, an agreement that permits Uber and Lyft, and no trip requirement, weekly or total. If you drive only Uber and want insurance in the weekly price, Hertz or Avis costs less.
