Express Drive figures from Lyft's and Hertz's own pages, checked October 1, 2026 · Atrium prices verified October 1, 2026
Is Lyft Express Drive Available in Utah?
Yes. Express Drive, Lyft's rental program for its drivers, runs in Salt Lake City with Hertz supplying the cars. As of October 1, 2026, Lyft's Express Drive page shows Salt Lake plans from $286 a week for a midsize car, $304 for an electric car and $359 for an XL, before taxes and fees. Every plan includes insurance, maintenance and roadside assistance.
The program is Lyft's and the cars are Hertz's. Lyft's help center lists Salt Lake City under its Hertz cities, and Hertz's page for Lyft drivers names it among its partner locations.
How Much Does Lyft Express Drive Cost in Salt Lake City?
Those are starting prices. Lyft says the displayed price is not final, and taxes and fees come on top. A refundable deposit is also required; Lyft does not publish the amount on its public help pages.
What Does Lyft Express Drive Include?
According to Lyft, as of October 1, 2026: insurance, standard maintenance and roadside assistance in every plan; mileage that is unlimited for both Lyft and personal driving on Hertz rentals; a minimum renter age of 25; and a seven-day minimum, after which you can return the car whenever you choose.
Those are real advantages over Atrium, where the minimum is a month and you insure the car yourself.
Does Flexdrive Serve Utah?
No. Flexdrive describes itself as an independently managed Lyft subsidiary and supplies Express Drive cars in 23 cities. None of them is in Utah, according to Lyft's city list as of October 1, 2026, and Salt Lake City appears only under Hertz. Flexdrive's own site points drivers to Express Drive rather than renting to them directly.
Can You Drive for Lyft in a Car Rented Outside Express Drive?
Lyft's Utah driver page says a rental car must be rented through Express Drive to be approved on Lyft, and it lists rentals from outside Express Drive among the vehicles it does not accept (as of October 1, 2026).
Atrium renters add the car to their Uber and Lyft accounts by uploading the car's registration and their own insurance document, which names the driver and the car's VIN, and our renters drive on both apps today. Lyft's published Utah rule above means we cannot tell you Lyft will accept the car. Final approval and ride-tier eligibility are decided by the platform and your driver account, and we do not promise approval on either app.
How Does Express Drive Compare With an Atrium Tesla?

On listed weekly price, Express Drive costs less than either Atrium Tesla, and it includes insurance, which Atrium does not. Atrium suits a driver who wants a Tesla, wants a rental agreement that permits both apps, and can commit to a month. There is no credit check: a $25 application fee covers the driving-record and background check, and most drivers are approved within 24 hours.
Check your mileage before you choose. 1,250 miles a week is about 178 miles a day, every day, and the seven cars in our fleet averaged 187 miles a day per car in August 2026, so a full-time driver can go over. Charging is also on the renter: Supercharging is billed weekly at Tesla's rates plus a 10% service fee, and the fleet's measured charging cost was $0.089 a mile that month, about $16.73 a day per car.
What the booking includes: routine maintenance, registration and basic roadside. Every car is tinted, and a person in Provo answers texts at (385) 204-4272. Atrium is rated 5.0 stars across 23 Google reviews.
Atrium rents only to active Uber and Lyft drivers. If you want a Tesla for a weekend trip, this is not that rental. More: renting a car for Lyft in Utah, Atrium pricing, the Utah rideshare rental overview, Hertz vs. Atrium for Uber's programs, and HyreCar alternatives in Utah.
