Can you rent a car to drive for Uber in Utah?

Yes. Atrium Car Rentals (EV-Solutions LLC) in Provo, Utah rents the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y to Uber drivers for a month or more, billed weekly, with rideshare use explicitly permitted in the rental agreement. There is no credit check; approval is based on your driving record and an active Uber driver account, and most drivers are approved within 24 hours.

How much does an Uber rental car cost in Utah?

At Atrium Car Rentals, a Tesla Model 3 is $425 a week and a Tesla Model Y is $599 a week. Both include 5,000 miles a month, measured as 1,250 a week, plus routine maintenance, registration and basic roadside. Personal (off-app) driving is limited to 500 of those miles a month. Costs on top of rent include a $25 application fee, a $300 refundable deposit, your own insurance and your Supercharging, billed weekly at Tesla rates plus 10%.

Where can you pick up an Uber rental car in Utah?

Atrium Car Rentals hands over every car at 488 N 900 E, Provo, UT 84606, about 45 minutes from Salt Lake City on I-15. Applying, document upload and signing all happen online, so the pickup appointment is the only visit (Mon–Fri 11 AM–6 PM, after-hours by arrangement). Can you use a rental car for Uber?

Uber's preferred route is a rental from one of its own partners. Any other rental comes with no guarantee. As of October 1, 2026, Uber's car rental FAQ says a rental from outside its Vehicle Marketplace takes extra steps: you upload the registration and proof of rideshare-approved insurance yourself, plus a decal where one is required. Approval can take longer, and Uber does not promise the car will be eligible. A shorter Uber help article is stricter. It allows rentals only through an approved partnership, and it warns that an unapproved rental can get an account waitlisted or deactivated.

Atrium is not an Uber partner, so our renters go through the manual steps. Each renter uploads the car's registration and their own insurance document, which names the driver and the car's VIN. Uber's Salt Lake City vehicle page says the registration does not have to be in the driver's name. Our renters drive on Uber and Lyft today, but Uber decides approval and ride tiers for each driver account, and we can't promise either. Can you rent a car through Uber in Salt Lake City?

Yes, once Uber has approved you to drive. As of October 1, 2026, Uber's Vehicle Marketplace for Salt Lake City lists eight rentals from two partners, Hertz and Avis, at $240 to $329 a week before taxes and fees. One of the Hertz listings is a Tesla Model 3 at $290 a week. You sign in to Uber to book, and taxes and fees are added after you reserve.

Both partners include insurance and maintenance in the weekly price. Per Hertz's Uber driver page, Hertz takes a $200 deposit and requires 30 Uber trips in each rental week to keep extending. It allows one rideshare program per rental, and the car can't earn on any other app. Avis takes no deposit and rents from age 25. Two of its three Salt Lake listings also require 100 completed Uber trips and a rating of 4.7 or 4.9.

Is Atrium different from Uber's own rental program?

Yes, and it costs more. Atrium's Model 3 is $425 a week and the Model Y is $599, and you carry your own insurance. Uber's partner rentals start at $240 and include insurance. For the difference, the agreement lets you drive Lyft as well as Uber, there is no weekly trip minimum, and you get a Long Range Model 3 or a 2026 Model Y. Maintenance, registration and basic roadside are in your booking, and a person in Provo answers your texts.

What do you need to rent a car for Uber in Utah?

You need to be 25 or older with a valid, unrestricted license held at least three years, a clean recent driving record, qualifying auto insurance, an active Uber driver account and a credit card on file. There is no credit check. Bring your own qualifying auto insurance, or ask about coverage through Atrium's program if your policy doesn't qualify — rates depend on your driving record.
