Can a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y Drive Uber Comfort or Lyft Extra Comfort?

On the car side, yes, by the lists as of October 1, 2026: Uber shows both from model year 2018 for Comfort and Comfort Electric, and Lyft shows the Model 3 from 2018 and the Model Y from 2021 for Extra Comfort. Uber's Salt Lake City driver page lists UberX, UberXL and Comfort among its options, and Uber lists Salt Lake City for Comfort Electric; Lyft's Salt Lake City options are Standard, Extra Comfort, XL, Black and Black SUV.

Ride optionModel 3 and Model YDriver also needs
UberXBoth listedStandard sign-up
Uber ComfortBoth, from 2018100 trips, 4.85+ rating, still eligible for UberX or similar
Comfort ElectricBoth, from 2018; at most 8 model years oldSame as Comfort
Lyft Extra ComfortModel 3 from 2018, Model Y from 202120 trips, 4.95+ rating, limited recent safety, cleanliness or service flags
UberXL, Lyft XLNeither: both need 7 seats—
Lyft BlackNot listed: Lyft omits the Model 3 and excludes Model Ys added after April 2, 2025—

Uber calls its list a convenience rather than a promise, Lyft says eligibility varies by region, and both lists move up about a year at a time. Atrium's Model 3s are model years 2018–2023, and a 2018 car sits exactly on Uber's current Comfort floor, so Atrium does not promise Comfort for every Model 3. Can You Use a Rental Car for Uber or Lyft?

It depends on the platform. As of October 1, 2026, Lyft says a rental must come through Express Drive, its own program (Hertz is the Salt Lake City partner), and its Utah page lists other rentals among cars it will not accept.

Uber's Car Rental FAQ recommends its Vehicle Marketplace partners. Other rentals go through a manual upload of the registration, rideshare-approved insurance and a decal where required; Uber says this can take longer and does not guarantee the car will be eligible. A shorter Uber article is stricter: rentals only through approved partnerships, and an unapproved one can get an account waitlisted or deactivated.

To put the car on Uber or Lyft, Atrium renters upload its registration and their own insurance document, which lists the driver and the car's VIN. They drive on both apps today. Approval and ride options are decided by Uber or Lyft and your driver account, not by Atrium, so read both platforms' rental pages before renting from anyone. Personal (off-app) driving is limited to 500 of those miles a month. It is not a weekend rental: the minimum is 1 month, and renters must be 25 or older with an active Uber or Lyft account.
